Buy cannabis seeds - How, where and which strains?
Table of contents
The easiest way to buy cannabis seeds is to order them online.
Among the high-quality varieties you can find those that are more suitable for indoor cultivation, as well as those that are predestined for outdoor. There are specially feminized cannabis seeds that later turn into female flowering plants only. There are also photoperiod and autoflowering strains. The meaning of these category descriptions is explained in the course of this text and corresponding product suggestions facilitate orientation in the product catalog of Linda Seeds.
But seed selection also affects other parameters. Some varieties have a higher yield than others. Also the taste depends strongly on the cultivated variety. And finally, there are easier to grow seeds and those that require a bit more knowledge and experience for a good success.
Linda Seeds offers a wide and carefully selected range, where growers with a wide variety of needs are guaranteed to find what they are looking for:
Outdoors or indoors, that is the question here.
Basically, there are two ways you can grow hemp. Either indoors under artificial conditions or outdoors, with the power of the sun. Depending on which growing scenario you choose, it is recommended to use either outdoor seeds or indoor seeds. While most seeds can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors, there are still some characteristics that can make a seed particularly qualified for one area of use. For example, some seeds are less susceptible to mold or are particularly light-hungry. These are better suited for indoor cultivation, where adequate ventilation is often a challenge. Other seeds are relatively resistant to lower temperatures and to pests. Accordingly, these are particularly well suited for an outdoor grow.
Depending on the region in which the crop is to be grown, it is also worth selecting seeds that can be harvested in September or early October at the latest. A sudden frost or persistent bad weather with a lot of rain can endanger the entire harvest.
For outdoor cultivation of "normal", i.e. photoperiod (also called light-dependent) seeds that follow the seasons and can be harvested in autumn, you should order mainly robust cannabis seeds such as Ketama Xaoen, Early Skunk, Hollands Hope, Easy Sativa suitable. Or even newer genetics that come mainly from the USA such as Orange Sherbet Fast Flowering, Purple Lemonade Fast Flowering or Blue Dream Fast. As cannabis seeds for indoor can be used, for example, wonderful classics such as Amnesia, White Widow or Afghan Skunk. Or Cali genetics like Girl Scout Cookies, Bruce Banner, Gelato #33, Runtz and Sunset Sherbet.

Photoperiod or autoflowering?
As with all other plants, the various cycles of cannabis are usually based on the hours of sunlight. As the days slowly shorten towards fall, the plants initiate the flowering phase. In an indoor grow, you simulate this natural phenomenon by changing the lighting hours per day. This measure is necessary so that you actually get flowers in the end.
However, there is a way around this need to change lighting. There are seeds with specially bred genetics that also contain Cannabis ruderalis genes. These start flowering automatically after a certain period of time, regardless of how many hours per day they receive light. These so-called autoflowering strains are especially suitable for growers who want to keep things as simple as possible. Autoflowering cannabis seeds can be provided with the same number of light hours throughout the entire growing period. Outdoors, you can sow autoflowering seeds regardless of the season. The only important thing here is that it is not too cold, that is, not permanently below 15 degrees Celsius. This allows you to make the most of the warm summer months and in countries with a very mild climate, you can even grow your own seeds all year round.
Often autoflowering seeds have an overall shorter growing cycle than photoperiod seeds. Disadvantages are the often somewhat smaller plant size and thus also lower yields. However, if you grow regularly, this is balanced out by the shorter growing cycles. In addition, the yield disadvantages are compensated for bit by bit by ever further breeding progress and always equalize. Auto Gorilla Glue and Auto Mimosa, for example, are among the most popular growing seeds. Among light-dependent seeds, on the other hand, Gelato and Biscotti Mintz are way out in front.
Sativa, indica and hybrid seeds
In the cannabis world, there are two strain categories: Sativa and Indica. Sativa plants are characterized by tall growth and long, thin leaves. The effect of the weed is mostly stimulating and stimulates creativity. The effect mainly affects the mind and thoughts and has a strong psychedelic component. Sativa strains usually have quite a long flowering phase. Whereas there are actually also short-flowering sativa varieties, but they are rather the exception and are also not quite as strong in their psychedelic effect, but rather exhilarating. Indica varieties, on the other hand, grow rather small and stocky, with many leaves and side shoots. This gives them a rather bushy structure. The weed has a very physical effect and brings with it an extremely relaxing effect that consumers refer to as being stoned. Indica strains are therefore basically good for chilling and relaxing. Strong Indira strains are used medicinally for pain treatment.
In addition, however, there is a third category, namely that of hybrid varieties. Through extensive breeding and crossing of different strains, there are now many varieties that combine both indica and sativa genetics. This gives the plants characteristics of both categories and also allows them to have an effect that is both physical and mental.
Often the sativa indica difference in effect is very individual and depends greatly on the consumer and the dose. However, the effects of sativa and indica strains can differ greatly, although it is important to note that the effects of cannabis depend on many factors, including the genetic makeup of the strain, individual metabolism, and dosage. General differences attributed to sativa and indica effects are:
Sativa
- Sativa strains are often described as stimulating, energizing, and invigorating.
- They can promote a sense of euphoria, creativity, and social well-being.
- Sativas are often associated with a "head high" that promotes mental clarity and activity.
- Sativa strains are sometimes recommended for daytime or activity use where mental stimulation is desired.
Indica
- Indica strains are often described as relaxing, calming, and physically sedating.
- They can provide deep physical relaxation, pain relief, and a calming effect on the mind.
- Indicas are sometimes associated with a "body high" or "body toned" that leads to muscle relaxation and an overall sense of serenity.
- Indica strains are often recommended for nighttime or relaxation and sleep use.
- Indica strains often have what is called a "couch-lock" effect, meaning you feel relaxed and lethargic and don't want to leave the couch for comfort.
However, it is important to know that there are many hybrids that combine properties of sativa and indica and can provide a wide range of effects. In addition, individual perception and reaction to certain strains can vary from person to person. Some consumers even say that the difference in effects between indica and sativa does not exist at all.
In terms of cultivation, indica strains are generally better suited for outdoor growing in colder regions due to their shorter flowering time, while sativa strains thrive mainly in hot climates with very long summers and a mild autumn. So climate change means that you may soon be able to grow a long-flowering Amnesia Haze outdoors in northern Germany too. Indoors, it doesn't matter whether you grow a sativa or indica strain. It is also impossible to say in general terms whether sativa or indica is better for beginners. Especially popular sativa strains are Super Lemon Haze and Amnesia Haze. Among indica strains, Hindu Kush, Afghan Kush and Critical+ are especially popular.
THC vs. CBD seeds
While THC is the most well-known active ingredient found in cannabis, there are a number of other cannabinoids as well. Many of them are not really well researched yet. The situation is different with the ingredient CBD. This enjoys great popularity, especially in recent years. One reason for this is that CBD products fall into a legal gray area and are therefore not categorically illegalized, as is currently still the case with THC-containing ones.
THC is known primarily for its psychoactive effects. It has a mood elevating effect and is largely responsible for the state known as a high.
CBD, on the other hand, has no real psychic effect. It is subtly relaxing and calming. CBD's main effect is on the body. However, the effect is not so strong as to be debilitating. CBD products are often used for medicinal purposes and can help with chronic pain, sleep problems, or stress, for example. There are pure CBD cannabis seeds available for purchase on Linda Seeds as well. Some of the most popular strains include CBD Critical, Sour Diesel CBD, Auto CBD Victory and Auto CBD Cosmos F1.
FAQs
How do you germinate cannabis seeds?
There are several techniques to get cannabis seeds to germinate. Seeds can either be wrapped in damp kitchen paper and then planted after germination, or stuck directly into the soil. In either case, make sure the environment is sufficiently moist and warm.
When to germinate cannabis seeds?
The ideal time for germination is the beginning of spring, as this also corresponds to the natural biorhythm of the seeds. However, seeds can also be germinated later in the year as long as you simulate the right conditions (sufficient humidity and moderate heat).
How to store cannabis seeds?
Cannabis seeds are best stored in a dark, cool and above all dry place. This way you avoid that they germinate unintentionally.
