As soon as you receive the Grow Kit, you should start cultivating immediately. If you start cultivating later, you can store the grow kit in the refrigerator at two to four degrees Celsius for a maximum of two weeks after receiving it. It is best to put the kit in a plastic bag and seal it tightly. However, it is always better to start with the grow kit immediately. The grow kit contains a grow box with colonized substrate including mycelium as well as a large grow bag with microfilter, which prevents contamination. You will also need a spray bottle and clean water to provide sufficient humidity. In addition, the environment must be clean to avoid contamination from other fungi and bacteria.

Make sure all windows are closed to prevent the grow kit from being contaminated by microorganisms, which can happen if there is a draft. Take the grow box with the granules/cake out of the box and place it on a disinfected surface. If the surface is not clean, microorganisms can attach to the growbox and contaminate the contents. Make sure your hands and arms are clean. We recommend wearing gloves or using a good disinfectant when working with the kit. Wear a mouth guard to prevent your breath from getting on the grow bag.

 

Fill the bag with fresh, still mineral water so that there is about 2-3 cm of water at the bottom of the bag. Place the Magic Mushroom Mexicana Mazapatec Grow Kit unopened in the bag. Do not remove the lid from the plastic box containing the granules until it is in the plastic bag. Store the lid: rinse it off and store it in a ziplock bag for later use for more flushes. Spray the granules in the open box with still mineral water using a water sprayer to slightly dampen them. Then fold the open end of the grow bag twice so that the micron filter is not covered. Attach two paper clips to the fold to keep the bag tightly closed. Now the Mexicana Mazapatec Magic Mushroom Growbox is ready for cultivation.

 

At best, the temperature should be 23 - 25 °C (24 degrees Celcius is optimal) and should not drop below 18 °C or rise above 29 °C. To prevent the temperature from dropping below 18 °C, you should use a heating mat.

 

The grow set needs sufficient light for the mycelium to reach the surface. A few hours of sunlight per day or artificial light is sufficient. Direct sunlight must be avoided, as it kills the mycelium.

 

Already one day after the Grow Kit has been started, the granules must be re-moistened with the spray bottle. To do this, open the grow bag and carefully spray the granules. This process should be repeated daily. Spraying also introduces fresh oxygen into the bag, which is important for mushroom growth.

 

Under good conditions, the first small shrooms (the pins) will show up within five to 16 days. 

 

Magic mushrooms grow in small or large groups called flushes. The shrooms almost never mature at the same time, so you can get more than one flush from a kit. The first two flushes will yield the largest shrooms while others will be slightly smaller.

 

Once the veil between the head and style of Mexicana Mazapatec Cubensis begins to tear, they are ripe for picking. Harvest the shrooms only with disinfected hands or gloves. Pick only the mature specimens so the others can continue to grow. Remove the shrooms from the cake/granules by gently grasping them between your thumb and forefinger. To do this, rotate your hand clockwise until the mushroom separates. Be sure to avoid pulling mushrooms out, otherwise the mycelium and thus the breeding will be destroyed.

 

Mushrooms have the characteristic of thriving only where the light reaches. Since the Cake also gets light on the sides, the shrooms also grow there. This is hard to prevent and not so tragic. Some growers therefore darken the sides, but this is usually unsuccessful.

 

After all shrooms have been harvested, you can prepare the grow set for the next flush. To do this, you need again work with disinfected hands or gloves. Fill the box with about 1 cm of fresh still mineral water and close it with the lid. Put the closed box with the cake in a clean plastic bag and put the whole thing in the fridge for 2 hours (not longer) to soak. This way the granules will be soaked by the water and prepared for the next flush. This way you will get up to three more flushes or even much more if you practice a lot.

 

If no more shrooms grow from the grow kit after another flush after three weeks, or if it becomes discolored, it has become unusable and can be disposed of in the trash. A change in color is an indication that the grow kit is contaminated by bacteria or something else.
